Saroj Shrestha, a twelfth grader, who visited the park twice after the launch of the free Wi-fi service, said that he has no complaints to make about the service. "Before going to the park, I'd thought that the park's internet speed might be slow. But to my surprise, it was very fast," he said.Likewise, Anjila Dhakal, an undergraduate student, often visits the park for free internet service. "When I don't have my internet service at home, I often come here with my laptop," she said. She says she comes to Ratna Park with her friends mostly for her research project.
When compared to the past, the well known Ratna Park is overcrowded with more visitors on a daily basis. The number of students among others to visit the park is on the rise after the installation of the free Wi-fi service, informed Harisaran KC, who looks after the Ratna Park.
"After we launched the Wi-fi service, many students are coming to the park for surfing free internet," he said. "Students come here with their laptops and other gadgets to use internet free of cost."
Even students in groups are visiting the park and they spend hours using internet, KC added.
Barely 100-200 people used to visit the park before the Wi-fi service was installed. However, after the launch of the Wi-fi facility, more than 400 people visit the park on a daily basis, according to him.
"I am amazed to see the growing number of students in the park," KC said. Around 800 people recently visited the park on the first day of the Nepali New Year alone.
Another visitor Pramod Karki, who lives in Basantapur, informed about his experience of using internet at Ratnapark. "I often walk in the morning till Ratna Park. Thereafter, I sometimes take rest inside the park using internet," he said. He usually listens to music online.
"The internet speed for downloading music isn't bad either. I've downloaded many songs using internet here," Karki said.
Ratnapark is now equipped with free WiFi under Green Promotion...
