KATHMANDU, June 7: Local police found four members of a Nepali family shot dead in a house in Manassas Park, Virginia, on Thursday night. They discovered two children and two adults with fatal gunshot wounds.
The landlord called the police to check on the tenants living in the basement apartment. Police identified the victims as Santosh Pariyar, 38; Anju Shrestha, 36; a 2-year-old boy; and an 8-year-old girl. Police have withheld the names of the children.

Officers recovered a firearm at the scene. Neighbors said the family had moved from Nepal to the U.S. about six months ago. After the landlord grew concerned about the family's well-being, police arrived at the apartment on the 9400 block of Lantern Lane around 10:40 p.m. local time Thursday.
The Manassas Park Police Department confirmed that all four victims died from gunshot wounds and said they are continuing their investigation. A video from Chopper4 on Friday morning showed police vehicles surrounding a townhouse area enclosed by trees, located about two miles east of Centerville Road (Route 28).
Police sent the bodies to the Manassas medical examiner's office for autopsy. Neighbors expressed shock and sadness over the incident. One neighbor said, "My 8-year-old daughter used to play every day with the 8-year-old girl who was shot."
