Four more gold medals for APF

KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Armed Police Force on Friday continued with their impressive run in the 34th National Badminton Championship as they added four more gold medals on Friday. On Wednesday, APF had won the men´s and women´s team event titles.



APF secured first position in U-15 boys´ singles, U-19 men´s singles, mixed doubles and women´s doubles at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall. [break]



In U-15 boys´ singles final, Dipesh Dhami outclassed his colleague Sunil Limbu 21-10, 21-14 in straight sets. Rajesh Chand of Kanchanpur and Santosh Khadka of Sunsari jointly finished third.



In girls´ final under the same category, Shiksha Shrestha had a hard fought 10-21, 22-20, 21-13 third set victory over Shreya Pradhan of Bhojpur. Swastika Budhathoki of Kaski and Rubina Thapa of Nepal Police Club (NPC) jointly took bronze.



Sajan Krishna Tamrakar bagged gold in U-19 men´s singles. Tamrakar defeated his colleague Ratnajit Tamang 21-16, 21-19. U-15 winner Dhami and Bilala Warsi of Banke jointly finished third. In women´s same category, Puna Gurung of Kaski secured gold. Gurung dispatched Samjhana Sharma of Banke21-11, 21-8 in straight sets.







In mixed doubles, Puja Shrestha and Indra Mahato´s pair clinched the top spot defeating Shambhu Kumar Shrestha and Tulsi Gurung´s pair of Kaski 21-15, 21-4 in straight sets.

 

Nangsaladevi Tamang and Puja Shrestha´s pair won the women´s doubles title. The duo eased past Purna Pun and Tulsi Gurung´s pair 21-9, 21-10 in straight sets.



Veterans´ doubles title went to Hemanta pal and Surendra Bahadur Singh´s pair of NPC. They defeated Manoj Shrestha and Dil Pun´s pair of Kaski.



In men´s singles, top ranked Bikash Shrestha of NPC and Ratnajit Tamang of APF set up the title clash. Shrestha dispatched Indra Mahat of APF 21-11, 21-16 and Tamang coasted past his colleague Tamrakar 23-21, 21-17.







Likewise, Nangsaladevi Tamang and Puja Shrestha of APF made it to the final of women´s singles. Tamang enjoyed walkover from her elder sister Saradevi of Army in the semifinal. In the quarterfinal too, she had got walkover from Sarita Tamang of APF.



Likewise, Shrestha put a break on her colleague Samjhana Khaling´s run with a 21-15, 21-12 victory.



In men´s doubles semifinal, Bimal Shrestha and Rajkumar Rai´s pair of Lalitpur beat Tamang and Tamrakar´s pair of APF 21-10, 22-20 in straight sets while Bivek Shrestha´s and Bikash Shrestha´s pair of NPC beat Indra Mahat and Pankaj Chand´s pair of APF 21-17, 21-17.
