JUMLA, Dec 5: Four people were killed in a jeep accident that took place near Jabuka area of Simkot Rural Municipality-7 Dadaphaya in Humla district at around 10 pm Friday. Seven persons including a child were injured in the accident.
The ill-fated jeep (Lu 2 Cha 2102) on its way to Hepka Khola had skidded some 600 meters off the road. A team of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Army personnel had reached the incident site for rescue efforts. They were joined by locals.
Jeep airlifted to Humla at a cost of Rs 1 million
According to the District Police Office, Humla, the jeep was returning to Hepka Khola after taking a patient to a local hospital for treatment.
Those who were killed in the accident have been identified as Parbat Sunar, 30, of Simkot Rural Municipality-7, Paras Bohora of Simkot Rural Municipality-2, Duki Tamang, 45, and her husband Guru Tamang, 45, of Namkha Rural Municipality-1, Hepka village in the district, according to DSP Surya Prakash Subedi.
Those injured in the incident include jeep driver Singam Bhandari of Simkot-2, Ajaya Basnet of Pyuthan, Kalpana Singh of Simkot-8, Kholsi, Jhum Jhum Lala of Namkha Rural Municipality-1, and Kabi Singh of Bajura. A one-year-old child Milan Singh and Samjhana Shahi are also among those injured in the accident.
All those injured are currently undergoing treatment at District Hospital in Humla. Most of those injured have received injuries on their head, chest and hands, and legs. The condition of two of the injured is critical while the remaining others have received minor injuries.
