BAJURA, Jan 2: Four people died, four others sustained injuries and one went missing when a jeep met with an accident in Karnali Corridor at Bandhu of Himali Rural Municipality-7 on Thursday afternoon.
The jeep owned by Swami Kartik Yatayat (Se 1 Ja 1064) with nine passengers en route to Koliti from Dhulachaur skidded some 500 meters off the road and plunged into the Karnali River at around 1:30 pm, killing four passengers on the spot, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Uddav Singh Bhat at the District Police Office, Bajura.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Shahi, 27, of Jagganath Rural Municipality-5 the owner of the jeep who was also driving the vehicle when the accident occurred. Similarly, Pawan Bhandari, 35, of Himali Rural Municipality-6, Dinesh Gharti Magar, 33, of Mohanyal Rural Municipality-5, Kailali and Prema Lama, 38, of Karmarod rural municipality-8, Mugu.
Similarly, 13-year-old Sushila BK of Swami Kartik Rural Municipality-4 in Bajura has gone missing in the Karnali River.
Likewise, the injured are Gomcho Lama, 20, of Karmarog Rural Municipality-8 in Mugu district and Tarche Lama of the same place, Saru BK, 22, of Budhinanda-6 and her two-year-old daughter.
All the injured passengers were airlifted to Kohalpur Medical Hospital at Nepalgunj for further treatment through the Nepal Army's helicopter.
According to the police, reckless driving could be the major cause of the accident.
