KATHMANDU, June 16: Four individuals including the Chairman of the Agriculture Development Multipurpose Cooperative in Kumaripati, Lalitpur, have been arrested for allegedly embezzling Rs 942.3 million.
Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office announced the arrests on Sunday, making the suspect behind the embezzlement public.
Among those arrested are Tej Bikram Thapa, chairman of the cooperative, Sajna Rajkarnikar, the manager and members Bhimsen Maharjan and Sanjay Sapkota.
The arrests follow complaints from 566 depositors. The cooperative is also under investigation by a parliamentary committee probing cooperative fraud cases.
