Former Queen Mother Ratna shifted to high care unit, health condition stable

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: Former Queen Mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Shah, 97, who was admitted to the hospital after suddenly falling ill on the day of Bhai Tika, has been shifted to the high care unit.

KATHMANDU, Novt 5: Former Queen Mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Shah, 97, who was admitted to the hospital after suddenly falling ill on the day of Bhai Tika, has been shifted to the high care unit.


During the treatment, she was transferred to the high care unit after she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Shah was taken to Norvic Hospital on Sunday evening due to health concerns. A medical team including cardiologist Dr Yadav Bhatta of the hospital was deployed for her treatment. According to the hospital, her condition is now stable.

Former Queen Mother Shah is the wife of King Mahendra. Even after former King Gyanendra’s departure from Narayanhiti, she continued to live in Mahendra Manjil which is located on the palace premises.
