KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has claimed that former king Gyanendra Shah supported his campaign by telephoning him.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Prasai claimed that Former King Shah called him and said 'I appreciate you, go ahead'.

"You have my support," Prasai said, quoting the former king. "It is a very big thing for me that the royal family believes in me so much," he said.

Prasai also did not complain about the former king going to Jhapa to attend a program organized by Rastriya Prajatantra (RPP) while Prasai’s own program was underway in the capital.

"The king belongs to all, wherever he goes, its fine," he said, "I have no complaints about it." Former King Shah went to Jhapa last Friday for the unveiling of a statue of the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal

Earlier, on November 23, Prasai launched a campaign named "the great campaign to save the nation, nationality, religion, culture, and citizens of Nepal", claiming that current republican system of governance had failed and needs to be replaced with one incorporating the king.
