KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Birodh Khatiwada, a candidate for the post of member of the House of Representatives from Makwanpur Constituency No 2, on behalf of the ruling party, has been attacked.
CPN (Unified Socialist) standing committee member Khatiwada was assaulted while going to the election meeting at Golghar located in Manahari Rural Municipality-4 Masine of the district. Purushottam Khadka, 55, of Hetauda sub-metropolitan ward number 2 assaulted Khatiwada. He had reached there to participate in the joint program of Ward No. 3 and 4 of Manhari rural municipality organized by the alliance.
Finance minister willing to help local entrepreneurs
Deputy Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Karki said that the person involved in the scuffle has been arrested. DSP Karki said that the person who attacked candidate Khatiwada was drunk and had an old addiction. He said that a necessary investigation has been started on Khadka, who is under police’s control.
Khatiwada could not be reached by phone when trying to get a response about the incident. However, after the incident, the election program went smoothly. Khatiwada, who is also the former health minister, is the candidate for Makwanpur Constituency Number 2 on behalf of the ruling alliance.
