KATHMANDU, March 27: Former DIG Ramesh Kharel has quit the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), expressing his dissatisfaction over a clarification sought by the party authority from him.
In a post on social media, Kharel announced to have separated himself from the RSP. “Recent developments and shifts in my personal beliefs and priorities have led me to reassess my alignment with the party’s principles and objectives,” he stated.

Kharel is said to have resigned from the party’s membership after he was asked for a written clarification citing his public statement against RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane.
Kharel, who had earlier refused to be a central committee member of the RSP, was defeated in the byelection held in Bara district last year.
