This was revealed after the on-the-spot studies of the forest, and involvement of the political parties, District Forest Office and community forest officials was found, said CA Natural Resources and Means Committee members.
Community forest officials have admitted that the District Forest Office itself ordered community forest officials of Sunsari to fell trees even if the government had decided to import timber from mid- west Nepal forests needed for the Koshi flood victims.
A large number of trees have been cut down from the forests of Shankar Beli, Amaha, and Sunsari Community Forest on the orders of the Forest Office.
Chairman of the forest in Hansposa Rudra Basnet said forest office employees had interfered and political parties and government bodies themselves are involved in this.
In Chatara area, kattha industries have lured the community forest officials and have been felling khayar trees.
Khayar is also brought from hilly districts of Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Udayapur and Khotang through the Koshi water ways, by destroying forests there.
