Foreign Minister to raise cross-border crimes with India

KATHMANDU, Aug10: Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala, who left for an official visit to New Delhi Monday morning, said that she will take up the issue of rising crime and smuggling across the porous border between Nepal and India.



Speaking to journalists before her departure at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Koirala added that she will lay especial emphasis to strengthen the security situation for the Indian investors in Nepal. She said that there is a rising “need to protect Nepal-India joint venture projects.” She was referring to the increasing security problems faced by Indian companies in Nepal.



Commenting on the Maoists´ recently announced protest program, she said it is "irrelevant" for the United CPN (Maoist) to announce such programs.
