KATHMANDU, July 3: Go Ford has launched Ford EcoSport in the Nepali market. The SUV is available in both diesel and petrol models.

As the vehicle has been priced very competitively, officials at Go Ford said the SUV has the potential to attract more customers. “We are confident that EcoSport will change the share of segments in the market. It will not only challenge other SUV but also take on other segments like sedan and premium hatchbacks”, Akash Golchha, director of Go Ford, said.



The petrol model of EcoSport is powered by 1.0 liter 3-cylinder Ecoboost petrol engine that generates maximum power of 120 PS power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. According to the company, the new Ecoboost engine is a down-sized direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine that provides the same output as that of a 1.6-liter engine which provides the best fuel economy. It also comes in 1.5 liter petrol variant that delivers a maximum power output of 118 bhp and 170 nm at 1,500 rpm. [break]



Likewise, the diesel model of EcoSport is powered by a four-cylinder 1.5liter; 8V SOHC diesel engine that gives power output of 90 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 204 nm at 2,000 rpm.



“The urban SUV is the first in its class to offer Ford SYNC®, the voice-activated in-car connectivity that enables drivers to choose music, make calls without taking their hands off the steering and compromising on safety,” Go Ford said in a statement on Wednesday.



SYNC also features emergency assistance which helps occupants place a call to the emergency services operator directly in the event of an accident. Go Ford has claimed that EcoSport is the first vehicle in Nepal in this category to offer this potentially life-saving feature. According to officials, the company is working with telephone operators to activate this service in Nepal.



The new SUV is features like burglar alarm and front passenger and side curtain airbags. Its other features include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control and Hill Launch Assist (HLA) system.

According to the company, EcoSport as is eco-friendly as it generates very low CO2 levels of 140 gram per kilometer.



“The upright posture, soaring ground clearance, high bonnet, roof rails and sophisticated cladding are among various features that make the car eye-catching. Sleek LED headlights, pillarless rear windscreen and stylishly cut tail lights make this sporty SUV perfect for those consumers who want to stand out from others,” the statement added.



The vehicle is available in 10 variants across 4 trim, 3 engine options and 7 colors. Go Ford has priced EcoSport Ambiente at Rs 2.85 million, Trend at Rs 3.09 million, Titanium at Rs 3.59 million and Titanium AT at Rs 3.99 million. Likewise, customers can get Titanium Eco and Titanium Eco Plus with Ecoboost engine at Rs 3.79 million and Rs 3.99 million respectively.



Similarly, four diesel variants of EcoSport are available in Nepal. The Ambiente D is available at Rs 3.45 million, Trend D costs Rs 3.69 million, Titanium D is priced at Rs 4.09 million and Titanium D + can be drive home for Rs 4.29 million.
