Excerpts:
How were the early days of singing?
The first time I sang in front of a crowd was at a school function during third grade. I got a lot of praises for it. After that, I never missed an opportunity to sing during school programs, and everyone at school started referring to me as a singer. But it was only two years back that I started participating in gigs. That's when Vinay Shrestha heard me sing and I landed the 'Resham Filili' project.
How has life been post-Jaalma?
I've been showered with praises and love from everywhere. People who knew me called in to say that I sounded great, which did a lot to boost my confidence. I'm happy that this song has left a good impression on the audience. It has been a turning point in my life.
Since your career has started out in the best possible way, do you see yourself in this industry for good?
I always liked singing and have never been shy about it, but to be honest, I never thought that I'd make a career out of it. But the events of the past couple of years have certainly made me feel confident about what I can expect. At least it has encouraged me to explore my potential as a singer, and I'm definitely going to do that in the future too.
Which is your favorite musical genre? Why?
I love reggae. I think it's very funky. It gives a different energy to your body. I used to listen to reggae songs when I was a kid without understanding the kind of music it was. Ever since then, I've been enjoying this type of music.
Who are artists here that you look up to?
I have a lot of respect for 1974 AD, their songs are just amazing. Albatross is my current favorite. I love Sabin Rai and the way he sings, and I've liked Anil Singh from day one. I used to croon to his songs during cultural programs when I was in school.
So what does the future hold in store for you?
Right now, I'm all about music and singing. I'll be doing some more playback singing, as I'm extremely happy with how it has worked out for me. I'm thinking of releasing my own songs as well, if not an album. I'm so busy with music
projects right now that I've put a halt to my studies. I'm actually thinking of studying music, as I've never taken a formal course in it. Let's see what happens.
