Speaking at a meeting on Thursday to discuss the normalizing of supplies and transportation for the CA elections, scheduled to be held on November 19, Regmi urged the agitating parties not to cause disruptions by organizing strikes and bandas.[break]
Regmi also urged the private sector to continue running industrial operations and transport activities by defying the strikes and assured that the government would provide compensation to the concerned individuals if losses were incurred.
Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire assured that the government would make the necessary arrangement to maintain peace and order during the elections.
The Minister for Commerce and Supplies Shankar Prasad Koirala told the meeting that the supply of daily consumable commodities and petroleum products were normal across the country.
Chief Secretary Leela Mani Poudyal stressed on the need for collective effort to protest against the bandas and strikes.
Krishna Hari Banskota, the secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, urged the private sector to support the government to ensure normal supply of essential commodities and maintain smooth transportation.
Suraj Vaidya, the president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said the private sector was against any form of banda or strike that would hamper economic activity and inflict businesses and entrepreneurs.
