FNJ Jhapa announces protest

BHADRAPUR, June 12: Jhapa Chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has announced a seven-day protest program beginning from Sunday.



The chapter started the agitation by demanding legal action against the guilty, who attacked Biratnagar based correspondent of Nagarik Daliy Khila Nath Dhakal.[break]



Morang district chairman of the UML affiliated Youth Force Parshu Ram Basnet had thrashed and beaten up Dhakal mercilessly.



As per the protest program, the journalists will work by binding black piece of clothes for three days from Sunday, said chapter´s chairman Ganesh Pokhrel and will stage sit- in at the Jhapa District Administration Office at 1pm on June 15, he said.



Similarly, the chapter will organize interaction among the trade unions on June 17 and interaction among editors on June 19 including others, said Pokhrel. RSS



Likewsie, the Human Rights Organization, Nepal, condemned the attack against Dhakal and has urged the government to take action against the guilty.



The organization also demanded the government to manage necessary compensation to the victim.
