KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The election program of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has been postponed. The Central Election Committee issued a notice today and stated that the election program has been postponed until further notice.
Voting to elect a new leadership of the FNJ was scheduled for September 28 with the nomination registration of candidates fixed for September 20 (today).

However it is mentioned in the notice issued by the election committee that the program included in the agenda including nomination has been postponed until further notice.
Ramesh Bista, acting president of the FNJ had sent a letter to the committee requesting to postpone the upcoming election program for the time being.
According to the same letter, the committee has issued a notice that the election program has been postponed. Bhakti Ram Ghimire, member secretary of the committee, and members Arun Paudyal, Bishnu Maya Bhusal, Shalikram Sapkota, Kapil Chandra Pokharel, Devendra Jha and Prof Chiranjeevi Khanal have signed the notice.
The convention of the FNJ has been affected due to disputes over membership verification. Following the controversy, Bipul Pokhrel resigned from the position of FNJ President.
