FNCCI instructs government to punish industrialists failing to pay sugarcane farmers

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) of House of Representatives has instructed government to punish those Industrialists who have not issued payments of Sugarcane to farmers today.

KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) of House of Representatives has instructed government to punish those Industrialists who have not issued payments of Sugarcane to farmers today.


The meeting of Federation held at Singha Durbar on Monday instructed government to provide sugarcane farmers with payments and justice. Earlier, farmers who have been staging protest had expressed their problems regarding payments in meeting of committee.

Furthermore, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ganshyam Bushal informed that owners of Mills are in large. "Owner of Annapurna Sugar Mill Rakesh Agrawal and owner of Maha Laxmi Sugar Mill Birendra Kanaudia are out of contact and government is doing its best to arrest them" he said.


According to Farmers, Annapurna Sugar Mill has not made payments of 500 million rupees and Mahalaxmi Sugar Mill has not made payments of 210 million rupees. Also, Farmers maintained that they have not received government allowances proper costs of sugarcane.   


Sugarcane farmers from various districts have been staging protest at Kathmandu against failure of Sugar mill to issue payments of sugarcane.
