Flowers produced by domestic farmers to be sold at 46 locations in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has prohibited the sale and distribution of plastic flowers during the Tihar festival.


Mayor Balendra Shah announced that, to regulate the sale of locally-produced flowers, arrangements have been made to allow sales at 46 designated locations within the metropolitan area during Tihar, Nepal Sambat, and Chhath festivals.


Reflecting on last year’s experiences, Mayor Shah stated that efforts have been made this year to facilitate flower-selling farmers by organizing sales at malls, parks, party palaces, and other venues.


He clarified that local flower traders and farmers can choose convenient locations for their sales. Contact numbers and assistance from the Metropolitan Police Force will be available to help facilitate this process.

Mayor Shah urged traders to refrain from selling plastic flowers and other decorative materials, warning that those caught secretly selling these items will face legal action in accordance with the existing laws.
