KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Flooding in the Bhotekoshi River has taken around 405 megawatts of electricity generated by 11 hydropower projects offline from Nepal’s national power system, according to the Ministry of Energy.
An additional 25 MW of solar power has also been affected by the floods, bringing the preliminary total of electricity knocked out of the system to around 430 MW.

The floods damaged hydropower projects and transmission infrastructure, disrupting both electricity generation and transmission and significantly affecting the national power system.
The ministry is collecting detailed information on the 11 affected hydropower projects, the extent of damage and the amount of electricity taken offline.
