JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 27: More than 300 houses have been inundated in several districts of Madhesh Province, while one person has died after being buried in a landslide, police said.
According to District Police Office spokesperson Om Prakash Khanal, 35-year-old Kamala Shrestha of Apagachhi in Mithila Municipality-11 died after being buried in a landslide.
Continuous rainfall has damaged private homes and other physical infrastructure in Saptari, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts.
Flooding affects dozens of homes in Chitwan as rivers swell
In Saptari, around 250 houses in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality and adjoining border areas have been inundated.
Khanal said floodwater also entered around 200 houses south of the Koshi embankment in wards 7, 11 and 12 of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality.
