MELAMCHI, July 8: The flood that continuously occurred since Tuesday following heavy rain in Sindhupalchowk district and bordering Tibetan zone has wreaked havoc in Liping and Gati of Tatopani of the district.

However, there is no human casualty in the disaster and now the water level is gradually going down, police informed.

The incessant rain in Tibetan territory adjacent to the district border is likely to inundate human settlements in different areas of Sindhupalchowk including Tatoapni, Barhabise, Lamosanghu and Khandichaur.

The houses at Liping Bazaar nearby the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge are at high risk of flood while 25 houses and huts from Tatopani to Barhabise have been already swept away.
The flood has devastated Tatopani-based Mansarobar Boarding School and swept away a canteen of Tatopani Customs Office and two tippers there.

The flood has also eroded several portions of the around 21-km road stretch along the Araniko Highway disrupting people's movement, said Police Inspector at Area Police Office Barhabise Raju Pandey.

It may take months to bring back the disrupted road into operation. As the flood has taken away big portions of Jambu road of Gati VDC it may not be feasible to resume the operation of the road section without finding alternative route. RSS
