Flood survivors worried about shelter

POKHARA, Aug 23: Flood survivors of Machhapuchchhre rural municipality of Kaski district are worried more about shelter than the food. 

Thirteen families were displaced after the flooded Humdi rivulet on August 8 inundated and damaged properties in the village. The survivors have been taking shelter at relative's homes. 
Ward Chairman Jum Bahadur Gurung said, "Although they have not faced problems for food and clothes. They are worried more how they could build houses for shelter." 

The financial aid provided by donors has been deposited in a separate relief fund. Ward Chairman Gurung said the financial assistance would be spent in house construction after finalizing a safer place. 

The flood destroyed property worth around Rs 100 million in the area. 

Meanwhile, St Marys Higher Secondary School of Pokhara- Lekhnath Metropolitan City-15 has provided relief materials and cash to flood survivors of Saptari district. RSS
