SURKHET, Aug 28: Thirty-seven families who were displaced by flood in Lagam VDC-6 of Surkhet on August 17 are yet to get any relief. Twenty-five families from Jarime and 12 from Karauje were displaced by the flood. They are taking refuge in a nearby jungle.

Ninety more households have also been displaced from near Birendranagar-1 and 6. The District Administration Office said it has not been able to take the relief to the village on time due to geographic difficulties.

At a meeting held on August 26, DDC had promised Rs 60,000 for food relief, Samaj Jagaran Kendra (SYAK) Rs 15,000 aid and Nepal Red Cross Society promised to provide utensils and tents.
