Kathmandu, Aug 23: Domestic flights have been affected due to the incessant rainfall on Wednesday, the Tribhuvan International Airport Office said in a statement. The flights were affected due to low visibility.
TIA General Manager Pratap Babu Tiwari said that domestic flights have been suspended due to unfavorable weather. He added that although the domestic flights were affected, the international flights have been operating regularly.
The airline companies said domestic flights to several destinations were canceled on Wednesday.
Buddha Air's information officer Dipendra Kumar Karna said two flights to Surkhet and one to Tumlingtar were canceled.
Similarly, all flights from Pokhara to Bharatpur and Pokhara-Nepalgunj route were canceled. Although the Kathmandu-Pokhara flight was partially affected, it resumed later in the afternoon.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology under the Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast rainfall for the next three days. Light to moderate rainfall is taking place in most places of the country including the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday.
