Fleeing convict teams up with lover to kill husband

By
PALPA, July 2: A 38-year-old woman of Palungmainadi-5, Palpa, teamed up with her lover to kill her 48-year-old husband, police have claimed.

Seema Gharti, who escaped prison during a Maoist attack in Palpa in 2005, admitted to having murdered her husband Dan Bahadur in collusion with her lover Top Bahadur Sarki, the police said. Seema was serving a prison sentence for a murder in 2005 when she escaped prison. She is yet to complete the sentence for the murder she committed in the past. [break]

Dan Bahadur and Top Bahadur were close friends. Both worked as construction laborers. Seema admitted to the police that she fell in love with Top Bahadur, and the two murdered Dan Bahadur so that they could get married.

Police have arrested Top Bahadur as well. On June 24, Seema murdered her husband and left with her three children. Police broke into her deserted house a week later and recovered Dan Bahadur´s body.

“We suspected Seema´s involvement in the murder and interrogated her,” said DSP Pawan Kumar Giri. “And we were proven right.”

Top Bahadur has also admitted to police that he aided the murder.

After murdering Dan Bahadur, the two tied a knot around his neck and hung him from the ceiling, to give the impression that he had committed suicide.

Seema has a 14-year-old daughter and two sons aged 11 and 8 from her first husband. Top Bahadur also has a wife, a son and a daughter.
