Five women rescued from traffickers

BARDIYA, May 7: Police in Bardiya today have rescued five women from Kalika VDC-8 in Bardiya district. They were lured into a job in India and were being trafficked.

A team of women police on petrol rescued Bimala Budha, 21 from Bageshowri-9, Richa Sunar, 19, from Shumshergunj-7, Alisma Kumari, 17, from Kohalpur Municipality-10 and Bimala BK, 17, from the same locality and Bimal Kumari from Mahadevpuri-10 of the district.


Police have arrested Kalpana Bhandari, 22, from Bageshowri-9 in the district along with her accomplice Rajendra Prasad Singh Thakuri, 38 from the same place and Arbind Kumar Gaur, 24, from Jhagawa village in Gorakhpur.

They will be lodged a case against Human Trafficking and Transportation Act, according to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Kumar of the District Police Office, Bardiya.

A member of the racket Dhananjaya from Debariy of India, however, has absconded following the rescue of the women, DSP Kumar added.

Further investigation into the incident in underway, police said. RSS
