Yummy Nepali Kitchen

Yummy Nepali Kitchen’s YouTube channel boasts more than 118 thousand subscribers and a total view count of over 12.6 million. They started posting food recipe videos since early July 2015 and currently have a total of 199 recipe videos uploaded on their channel. They have covered everything from choila and chukauni to yomari and different kinds of ladoos. Although at times they cover seemingly ‘western food’ recipes, a majority of their videos take on food items and dishes that are popular in Nepal. All of their videos are in Nepali and for people who find it hard to follow a video recipe, the Yummy Nepali Kitchen team also have a website where all these recipes are uploaded. All of their videos are short and the directions they give are very easy to follow as well.

Yummy Food World

Yummy Food World is another popular channel that deals with recipes of Nepali cuisine. They update their channel every two weeks with a new recipe video and have amassed over 326 thousand subscribers over a period of two and a half years. All of their videos are in Nepali and their directions are very neat and precise. They update their Facebook and Instagram accounts every time they upload a new video. They also have a website where they upload all their recipes. All their videos are further divided into different playlists under a common relevant grouping which makes it easier to find the video a viewer is looking for amidst their 140 videos. They have over 37 million total views on their videos and have covered most of the popular Nepali dishes and foods including momos, gajar ko halwa and dalmoth alongside some interesting recipes like rice wine and laphing.

Chef Suni

A variety of dishes from America, India, Nepal and China can be found in Chef Suni’s channel but her videos on authentic Nepali cuisine outnumber anything else on her channel. She has been uploading recipe videos on her channel since early 2017 and has already accumulated more almost 50 thousand subscribers and over three million views. Right now, she has 195 videos. She uploads very frequently on her YouTube channel, almost two to three times every week on average. Even though the directions she gives on her videos are very detail oriented, almost all her videos are shorter than five minutes. At times, she also uploads time or festival specific videos. For instance, during Tihar she uploaded eight different recipes on Tihar specific sweets. She is also active on various social networking sites, namely Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and uses these platforms mainly to notify her followers about new uploads.

Ghar Ko Kitchen

Ghar Ko Kitchen is a relatively new YouTube channel. They only have 32 total videos on their channel and approximately 3.5 thousand subscribers. Till date, they have mostly covered easy to make recipes that most Nepali households prepare on a regular basis – with the exception of this one video they uploaded about three months ago titled ‘How to grow avocado’. Their videos are very elementary with simple instructions. All of their recipe videos are in Nepali and they also list out the ingredients used and the directions (in Nepali) on the description panel of all of their videos. They have also managed their videos under multiple generic playlists and are active on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to inform their followers and subscribers about new videos and uploads.

Learn to Cook With Me

The first video on the Learn to Cook With Me channel was uploaded in early December 2016. Since then, they have uploaded over 145 videos and have almost 11 million views and 84 thousand subscribers. Although they are uploading the same kind of recipes that every other channel on this list is, their prime allure lies in the no-fuss way their videos are produced. Unlike the other channels in this list, Learn To Cook With Me does not add any kind of voice over in their videos. They simply show what needs to be done for the recipe and add the directions as simple subtitles. Although they are not very consistent with their uploads, if there is a major Nepali festival coming up, they cover all the important food items required during the event on their video and upload it just in time for people to refer to it while cooking for the occasion.
