Police have named the three arrested as YCL central committee member Subodh Raj Sherpaili -- also former Rukum YCL chief -- district committee member Keshav Rawal and Dambar Bista. The identities of the other two arrested have been withheld. The police on Saturday had arrested 11 YCL cadres in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, a team of government officials led by DSP Rabindra Bahadur Ghanuk inspected the site of attack. The local administration has also mobilized more security personnel as a preemptive measure against possible Maoist reaction.
Bista was mercilessly thrashed by unidentified individuals before being thrown for dead in a forest in Rukum on Monday. She is recuperating in Kathmandu Model Hospital in the capital.
Bista had been receiving phone threats in connection with her recent commentary on local Jantidhara weekly titled "Why do the Maoists need Tirtha´s sindoor?"
Meanwhile, Tika´s mother lodged a attempt-to-murder case in the Rukum district police office, demanding action against the assailants. In the case, she has, however, not alleged any specific person for the attack.
