SURKHET, April 7: A landslide in Ghatgaun of western Surkhet claimed lives of five people. The landslip occurred around 4 pm while the men were digging canal for irrigation, according Pratima Pariyar, a local.

According to AGP Rajeshkumar Lal Karna of DPO Surkhet, the deceased have been identified as Krishna BK, 40, Man Bahadur Nepali, 32, Prashadey Bika, 50, Mahesh BK, 22, and Min Bahadur Shahi, 58. Police teams from Babiya Chour and Tatapani have reached the incident site for investigation.
