Five killed in Mugu jeep accident

MUGU, Aug 15: A jeep accident that occurred in Mugu district has resulted in a loss of five lives. 


The jeep met with the accident when it was on its way to the district headquarter Gamgadhi from Sorukot. According to police, four of those killed in the accident hail from Humla, while another one is from Soru Rural Municipality in Mugu.

The two of the deceased have been identified as Ram Pariyar from Sarkegad Rural Municipality and Piyush Pariyar and Prakash Bohara from Sarkegad village in Humla district. 


Lokjung Nepali, a ward member from Soru Rural Municipality-5, also lost his life while being transported to Gamgadhi for urgent medical treatment.


The accident resulted in an immediate fatality of two individuals, while two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the local health post. Another victim lost his life while on the way to the district headquarter Gamgadhi for further treatment. 


District Police Office, Mugu said that the accident could have occurred due to challenging road conditions and unforeseen circumstances.


Rescue operations were hindered by heavy rain that left roads damaged in several locations. The injured were taken to the hospital around 5 am on Tuesday as the road was blocked at various places.
