Five killed in accidents

BUTWAL/TULSIPUR, June 20: One person died in a road accident that took place at Madhawaliya on the Butwal-Bhairahawa road section on Saturday night.



Pedestrian Tikaram Gurung was killed after being hit by a motorcycle (Lu1Pa4622) heading toward Bhairahawa from Butwal.



Gurung died while undergoing treatment at the Bhirahawa Medical College, according to the District Traffic Police Office, Rupandehi.



Meanwhile, at least four persons were killed on the spot and over a dozen injured in a tractor accident in Pyuthan district on Sunday evening.



The tractor loaded with cement met with an accident at Ameliya of Dangbang VDC of Pyuthan.



According to Rapti Zonal Police Office, Tulsipur, the identitities of the deceased persons have not been ascertained yet as the accident site is far from the district headquarters.



The injured had not been rescued till Sunday night. A team of security personnel had been sent for the accident site from Tulsipur, Dang.



Details of the accident were yet to be received when this report was filed. The accident site is at five hours´ walking distance from Baraula Police Post in Pyuthan.



Police said an ambulance from neighboring Arghakhanchi district has been sent for the rescue of the injured passengers.
