Five held with weapons

BIRGUNJ, June 17: District Police Office, Parsa, on Thursday made public five youths, who were arrested along with weapons from Gandakchowk in Birgunj-17 on Wednesday evening.



The arrested are Rajesh Balami (25), Samir Balami (23) and Santosh Balami (29) of Chitlang-5 of Makawanpur, Buddhi Bahadur Shahi (26) of Jutkot-3 in Bajura and Bijaya Dangol (34) of Kathmandu. They were arrested during a regular security check while they were heading to Birgunj on a taxi owned and driven by Dangol.



According to DSP Sanjeev Sharma, police have seized a US made pistol, five rounds of bullets and a magazine from the youths. Police said all the youths were living in Kathmandu and they are suspected to have links to different criminal activities.



Sharma said the group might have come to Birgunj to avoid arrest in Kathmandu after committing some crime there. However, the youths told journalists that they were paid Rs 30,000 by Bijaya Yadav of Parsa for carrying the weapons to Birgunj.
