Five DIGs promoted to AIGs

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The government decided to promote two Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Nepal Police and three DIGs of Armed Police Force to Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) on Thursday.



A cabinet meeting decided to promote Nepal Police’s DIGs Nawaraj Dhakal and Bhisma Prasai and APF DIGs Durja Kumar Rai, Rameshdev Bhattarai and Jiwan Kumar Thapa to the posts of AIGs that had remained vacant for quite some time [break]



The meeting also endorsed Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai´s looming visit to Maldives to participate the 17th SAARC summit slated for November 10-11. PM Bhattarai will be leading an 11-member Nepali delegation to the regional summit.



Likewise, the meeting decided to appoint Chand Tara Kumari as chairperson of the National Women´s Commission. It also decided to extend Radio Nepal´s Executive Director Tapanath Shukla´s tenure by two years.
