They were killed after a huge mass of sand buried them at 9:30 am. Three others have been injured in the incident.
The dead have been identified as 45-year-old Chakra Sarki, 35-year-old Kaushila Sarki, 30-year-old Dipa Sarki, 32-year-old Kittidevi KC, and 13-year-old Basanti KC.
All were the residents of Kadel-3, Bajhang. According to Bajhang Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilli Raj Bista, all of them died on the spot.
The three who survived with injuries are 55-year-old Lachu Sarki, 40-year-old Junu Sarki, and 36-year-old Mon Sarki, all residents of Kadel-3.
They are receiving treatment at a local health post. The incident site is a little over a day´s trek from district headquarters Chainpur.
