KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Police have arrested five absconding suspects for assaulting Niraj Baduwal following a fight near Karma Club in Thamel, Kathmandu. The incident occurred on November 1 when Baduwal was attacked by the suspects, who were involved in a dispute while playing Deusi/Bhailo during Tihar.
A team of officials mobilized from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested the suspects on Thursday from various locations in the valley. The arrested individuals are Lakpa Sherpa, 24, of Chichila Rural Municipality-2 in Sankhuwasabha, Ranjit Tamang, 21, of Tadi Municipality in Nuwakot, Krishpin Thapa, 22, of Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality-1 in Tanahun, and Sonu Lama, 26, and Radha Lama, 21, of Roshi Rural Municipality-9 in Kavrepalanchowk.

According to the chief of the KVCIO, Senior Superintendent of Police Sanuram Bhattarai, the attackers used rods and metal knuckles with the intent to murder Baduwal. An attempted murder case was filed against the suspects at the Police Circle Sorakhutte, where they have been sent for further investigation.
