KATHMANDU, Oct 7: The defending champions Iran will be taking on Tajikistan in their first match under the AFC U-16 group ´B´ qualifiers in the second match of the day on Wednesday. The Iran national team, dubbed as the strongest team of group ´B´ in the qualifiers, are eager to repeat history, while the opponents Tajikistan are all set to turn the tables after collecting the full points in the opener against Bahrain on Monday. [break]

In their first match against Bahrain, Tajik registered 2-0 win over ten men opponents after A Rahman was sent out for playing foul. Both the goals were made after Tajik got chance to play with one more player. It can be imagined easily that the upcoming match against Iran will not be as easy as that with Bahrain.

In contrast to Bahrain team that came up with physical show, the Iran team, the Asian powerhouse, is taken as the technically sound team of the group. Iran are ranked 60th in the FIFA world rankings and Tajikistan are in the 172nd position. Not only both the teams, but all five teams of the group are in Nepal prepared to battle it out to qualify for the final round. According to the Iran coach Akbar Mohammadi, the team has come up with two years of preparation for the tourney. As being the defending champions, the team is also under pressure to come up with better results.

In the first match of the day, Bahrain will be taking on Lebanon. Lebanon are in high spirits after they saw off the hosts 1-0 in their first match of the tournament on Monday. On the other hand, to stay on track as a promising contender for the final round Bahrain need to bring out a clear result.

In contrast to Nepal, the Bahrain players are physically as strong as those of Lebanon. The Bahrain team which came up with more physical than technical show need to change their strategy against the technical opponents for result in their favor.

Bahrain are in 64th place and Lebanon in 150th spot in the FIFA senior men´s ranking. However, this ranking has not much to do in age group tournament.

Iran Vs Tajikistan @15:00
