First Honda Nepal Dream Cup completed

KATHMANDU, March 15: Bibesh Shrestha and Raj Kumar Karki were crowned champions of Nepal’s first Motorcycle Racing Championship ‘Honda Nepal Dream Cup 2019’ organized by Honda Nepal in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, March 15: Bibesh Shrestha and Raj Kumar Karki were crowned champions of Nepal’s first Motorcycle Racing Championship ‘Honda Nepal Dream Cup 2019’ organized by Honda Nepal in Kathmandu.


In 250cc category, Shrestha collected most points, 58, after the three rounds of race, despite finishing third on the final round organized on 8th and 9th March.


Ujen Batajoo set the fastest lap record in the CBR 250R category and Raj Kumar Karki took pole position with the fastest lap time in 148-165cc category.


Batajoo finished on top position, Ram Bikram Thapa came second and Shrestha was third winning the race with total cumulative points more than his counterparts.

Ashik Lama secured second position in the championship with 37 points. 


Shrestha and Lama are also qualified to represent Nepal in Honda India Dream Cup.


Similarly, in 148-165cc category, Karki topped the competition followed by Sujay Gopali in second and Laxman Bikram Thapa in the third position. 


Raj Kumar Karki was declared the championship winner with a total of 50 points after three rounds of the category.


While the final round had a total of 29 participants, the first and third round had a total of 37 and 41 participants respectively. More than 900 spectators attended the three events.


This championship was run under the International Sporting Code of the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), Nepal 


Automobile Sports Association (NASA), Nepal Motorcycle Federation (NMF) and the HNDC Supplementary Regulations 2019 and based on MotoGP & WSBK 


Racing Format, with points being given to riders based on their race position. 


The riders who collected the most number of points were awarded the championship title.
