Finding similarities between Subin Bhattarai & Chetan Bhagat

Subin Bhattarai rose to fame with his love trilogy ‘Summer Love’, ‘Saaya’, and ‘Monsoon’. He found commercial success from the first part of his trilogy and then completed the love novel in 2016. Since his books have a fair share of romance and love; the youths are tempted toward his writings. Owing to that fact, he is considered Chetan Bhagat of Nepal. Bhattarai recently released his fifth book, ‘Priya Sufi’.

I have read ‘Summer Love’ and ‘Monsoon’ from his love trilogy.  He writes stories based on reality. That’s why his works tempt youths more than anyone else. Like Chetan Bhagat, Bhattarai also uses understandable language. Both of the writers ensure practicality and real-life relevance in their stories.

I am afraid I don’t have a particular favorite. However, I found ‘Saaya’ better than ‘Summer Love’. His stories often lead the readers to imagine further about the characters. Chetan Bhagat and Subin Bhattarai’s writing style is targeted at the youths. Their characters and storylines are also pretty similar.

I have read ‘Summer Love’, ‘Saaya’, and ‘Monsoon’. ‘Summer Love’ is my favorite. Youths like his unique style of storytelling. His novels consist of interesting love flicks. Maybe, those are the reasons why most of the youths adore him and his books.  I’m also familiar with the recent comparison. In my view, his writing style matches that of Chetan Bhagat.

Sakshi Bhattarai, ACCA student, National College of Accountancy

I have only read three: ‘Summer Love’, ‘Saaya’, and ‘Monsoon’. ‘Monsoon’ was interesting, but I liked ‘Summer Love’ and ‘Saaya’ better. I think most of the youths love his books because he writes stories about love and romance. His books and narratives captivate the readers’ attention. At present, youths are leaned toward love stories, and his stories are exceptional.

There are a few similarities between the two novelists; both of them specialize in writing about love. Both have an appealing approach to storytelling. Maybe, that’s why people call him Chetan Bhagat of Nepal.

Bhattarai provided insight about his writing style, and the reason why his readers compare him with Chetan Bhagat.

How was the response of your trilogy?

Youths loved all three books. However, ‘Summer Love’ and ‘Saaya’ were more popular.

Why do young people love your novels?

It could be because my stories are youth-centric. I feel youths can resemble themselves with the characters of my book. However, the urban youths like my book more because I mostly write stories based upon city settings.

Youths consider you as Nepali Chetan Bhagat. What is your opinion?

Talking about the title ‘Nepali Chetan Bhagat’, I don’t think my stories are entirely similar to his. Our writing styles are different, but I respect the readers’ opinion. However, both of us have youths as our main characters.
