Finance ministry allocates additional Rs 10 million for by-election expenditures

KATHMANDU, May 8: The Ministry of Finance has provided an additional 10 million rupees to cover the expenses of the by-elections held in Ilam and Bajhang districts on April 27.


Responding to the increased financial needs of the Election Commission, the Ministry of Finance allocated supplementary funds, going beyond the usual budget allocations.

According to the ministry, the additional funds are intended for the Election Commission and District Election Offices to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and approved expenditure norms.


The by-elections, held on April 27, featured contests in Ilam Constituency-2 for the House of Representatives and Bajhang 1 (A) for Provincial Assembly representation.


CPN-UML’s Suhang Nembang and Daman Bhandari emerged victorious in Ilam and Bajhang, respectively.
