KATHMANDU, Mar 2: The final preparations for this year Mahashivaratri are underway at Pashupatinath. According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has expected some 1 million pilgrims and visitors at the temple this year from Nepal and neighboring countries. The festival is being observed on March 4 this year.
To facilitate the devotees for the easy access to the temple, three doors will remain open for the day, according to the PADT. The devotees can reach the temple within 2-3 hours this year, maintained PADT. Every year, thousands of devotees from within and outside the country, predominantly from India, throng the Pashupatinath Temple from early morning and queue up for hours for the darshan of Lord Shiva on the day of the great festival.
The PADT said that around 7,000 Sadhus are expected to be seen in the festival this year.
