The fifth national convention of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association was held at Hyolmo Monastery at Tinchuli, Baudha, on Saturday. The event saw the participation of the members of the Hyolmo community along with Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ngawang Tenzing Rinpoche as the chief guests.
‘Hyaye’ for Hyolmo culture preservation
The convention was held to elect the representatives from within the association to present the issues of the community at the national level. 113 representatives from eight different districts attended the convention. A total of 25 candidates were elected in several designations. The newly elected members shall served a three-year tenure.
“Being recognized as one of the disadvantaged groups by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), our main agenda is to address various issues in the community and delegate them to the national level through the committee that we have formed,” said newly elected Vice-chairperson, Dolma Kumari Hyolmo. “The convention has provided each one of us with duties and responsibilities, we hope to meet the goals within our three-year tenure,” added Hyolmo.
