RAJBIRAJ, July 28: Over 50 inmates at Saptari prison have taken ill following the spread of viral fever.

The number of inmates falling victim to the viral fever is on the rise since it broke out four days ago.

Those affected are suffering from fever along with vomiting and eye-itching, Acting Chief of the Prison Bhagwat Yadav said.

So far 52 inmates have been taken ill. The prison currently has 144 inmates.

The prison is finding it hard to deal with such a large number of inmates falling sick at once, and has so communicated to the Department of Prison Management, District Public Health Office and the Chief District Officer for necessary assistance, Yadav said.
