The police prevented cadres of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) from disrupting feedback collection on the draft constitution at Urlabari VDC and at the town hall of Biratnagar, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhu Prasad Dhakal at District Police Office (DPO), Morang.
Despite obstruction of transportation services in the district, gathering of public opinion on the draft constitution was a success, according to local administration.
Although the clashes ensued after cadres of RPP and Federal Limbuwan Party (FLP) in Itahari of Sunsari district tried to foil feedback collection, the program was went ahead as planned, according to local administration.
Likewise, FLP cadres had also attempted to disrupt the feedback collection in Dhankuta and Paanchthar districts. Security personnel from the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force had intervened to disperse the mob of protesters gathered to obstruct the program.
The protest organized by the FLP had further intensified after the RPP and the Federal Socialist Party Forum (FSP) Nepal joined them.
Similarly, the police arrested 19 protesters from RPP, FLP, FSP and CPN-Maoists from Udayapur district as they attempted to thwart feedback collection function. The protesters were subdued by the security forces, according to District Administration Office (DAO), Udaypur.
