GAUSHALA, Dec 18: The Sugarcane Production Association, Mahottari has been on strike at the Everest Sugar Mill, Ramnagar since Saturday with a six - point demand.
The farmers numbering around a hundred have been staging a sit – in at the main entrance of the sugar mill demanding proper pricing.
The farmers are pressing for fixing Rs 601 per quintal of sugarcane, payment within 15 days after purchasing the sugarcane, 50 per cent more charge if the payment exceeds the set deadline and weighing the sugarcane on the weighing scale used for sugar or a separate arrangement for weighing sugarcane.
The agitators had submitted a memorandum to the sugar mill on December 3. The sugar mill's operation remained affected since Saturday with the sit – in by farmers at the main gate. RSS
