Extortion case filed against Chand-led NCP spokesperson Bishwakarma

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: A case has been filed against three party leaders including Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, standing committee member of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand, on the charge of extortion at Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: A case has been filed against three party leaders including Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, standing committee member and spokesperson of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand, on the charge of extortion at Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday.


Metropolitan Police Range Office (MPRO), Kathmandu has filed the case against three individuals in line with the Extortion Act, 2030 BS, accusing them of extorting Rs 70 million from various individuals.

The other arrested are Man Bahadur Shrestha, 50, of Banganga municipality-4, Kapilvastu and Hari Chandra Acharya, 33, of Kalika rural municipalit-6, Kalikot.


A speical squad of MPRO, Kathmandu on Tuesday arrested them at Dakshinkali municipality-1, Chalnakhel while they were coming to Kathmandu from Hetauda by a vehicle, Ba 14 Pa 2729, yesterday. 


Police said they are carrying out investigation into the case taking the arrested into custody on a five-day remand. 


Meanwhile, NCP has announced fresh protest programs against the KP Sharma Oli-led incumbent government demanding release of their arrested cadres.


In a press statement issued on Wednesday, signed by party General Secretary Chand, it has been stated that the party has announced the program against the arrest of the three party leaders.
