KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Chairperson of the Federal Council of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Dr Baburam Bhattarai has called for relocating the federal capital from Kathmandu.
Dr Bhattarai, who is also a former prime minister, tweeted on Tuesday morning that the national capital should be moved from Kathmandu to elsewhere.
"Due to the failure of understanding the interrelation between development and conservation and maintaining a balance between them, and letting the land mafia who are the prime villains of crony capitalism, to walk free, the Kathmandu Valley is turning into a concrete jungle thereby becoming uninhabitable in the next few decades," Bhattarai said.
However, he has not suggested any place for relocating the federal capital.
The former prime minister also demanded that the National Land Use Policy be implemented.
