Ex-Gurkha soldiers postpone hunger strike for trilateral talks

LONDON, Nov 8: The retired Nepali Gurkha soldiers have postponed their hunger strike in a bid to create a conducive environment for trilateral talks apropos their demands.

LONDON, Nov 8: The retired Nepali Gurkha soldiers have postponed their hunger strike in a bid to create a conducive environment for trilateral talks apropos their demands.


The strike was called off after the British government turned positive to sit for a trilateral talk regarding the demands of the retired Nepali Gurkha soldiers.

The Gurkha Satyagraha Joint Struggle Committee has submitted a memorandum to the Office of British Prime Minister with a request to create a favorable environment for talks mentioning that it has postponed the scheduled relay fast-unto-death. 


According to Acting Coordinator of Gurkha Satyagraha Joint Struggle Committee, they postponed the strike for a time being after Nepal and British governments requested them to that end.


Some 300 retired Gurkha soldiers protested carrying placards in front of the Office British Prime Minister demanding to address their demands yesterday.


 Issuing a statement, Gurkha Satyagraha Joint Struggle Committee has asked for supports from all the concerned authorities until the agitation reaches a logical conclusion.
