KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha and former Deputy Prime Minister Chitra Bahadur KC got injured Wednesday morning after falling from a microbus near Gaushala as the over speeding vehicle was trying to  escape the watchful eyes of traffic police.

According to DSP Nawaraj Karki of Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, the ex-DPM fell from the open door of a blue colored microbus as it was making a u-turn after violating traffic rule.

A traffic police personnel at Gaushala crossroads had diverted the Kapan-bound microbus toward Maitidevi for violating lane discipline, according to the police.  But, instead of making a full circle, the vehicle took an abrupt u-turn a little ahead to shorten the route when the leader fell off the over speeding vehicle.

KC's personal secretary Durga Sharma informed that KC became unconscious immediately after the fall at around 10 am Wednesday while he was on his way to attend a meeting at Kapan-based party office.

Immediately after the incident, the passengers, police and locals took KC to the nearby police circle office in Gaushala. Police then rushed him to KMC Hospital for treatment.

After regaining consciousness, KC reportedly said that the incident was a result of the reckless driving.

“I am luckily to be alive,” Sharma quoted KC as saying to visitors.

KC sustained minor head injury and also sprained his back, according to Shama.

“The report shows that the injuries are minor,” added Sharma.

Police said that they were investigating the case and preparing to charge the driver under traffic rules violation. The vehicle operator has assured to bear all the expenses for the treatment of KC. The driver of the vehicle is in custody and has accepted his negligence.

Unlike other senior leaders, ex-DPM KC prefers public vehicles to commute in and around Kathmandu Valley. He was a deputy prime minister in the previous government led by KP Sharma Oli.
