Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute, Balaju and Jaya Bageshwari Higher Secondary School, Nepalgunj became the first and second runners-up, winning trophies and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and 25,000 respectively, along with scholarships.
Launched on August 12, the ‘Real School of Nepal 2013’ competition was held in Eastern, Western, Mid-Western and Central Regions. All the participating schools competed in the Regional Finals and the regional champions then proceeded to the Grand Finale.
The Regional Champions who competed in the Finale were Eureka Residential Higher Secondary School, Motherland Higher Secondary School, Jaya Bageshwari Higher Secondary School, Arunima Higher Secondary School, Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and Graded English Medium School (GEMS).
The competition was held in two categories: Senior (Class 8, 9, 10) and Junior (Class 5, 6, 7). In the senior category, the students competed on three different categories – Extempore, Dance and Football Juggling, while in the junior category, the students competed on Painting, 3 Minutes to Fame and Score the Real Goal.
The panel of judges consisted of Kiran Manandhar, the chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Actor Mithila Sharma, former footballer Surendra Tamang, and Editor-in-chief of Nagarik national daily, Prateek Pradhan, who respectively judged Painting, Dance and 3 Minutes to Fame, Football Juggling and Score the Real Goal, and Extempore.
Medals and certificates were given to the winners and runners-up of every individual category.
